Alberta Indigenous Games
Lacrosse
https://www.albertaindigenousgames.ca

This game originates from the First Nations people who were first observed playing this sport as early as the 1700's. Unfortunately, the game was imitated by settlers and then later banned First Nations people from playing it. They renamed the game "Lacrosse" (Maclean's, 2017) . Many First Nations are reclaiming their sport by teaching, and playing the game. Alberta Indigenous Games (AIG) hosts provincial games with Lacrosse being one of them. For those interested, they can contact AIG to have members of the organization to come to either schools or organizations and teach the sport, with equipment supplied.
